Building the Willys was a little out of character for the Ghostworks crew – but of course we’re always up for a challenge! This particular project came about due to a request from an established customer. We’d built a car for him previously, and he wanted to build another for his wife – the Willys.

We started with an aftermarket glass Willys body which was mated to a custom tube chassis. An independent setup was used for the front suspension, while a Ford 8.8 with Moser internals mounted on a custom 4-link was used in the rear. Ride height is adjustable via coil-overs.

Powering the Willys is a 400-horse YearOne crate small block, backed by a 700R4 automatic. Inside, the hot rod was treated to Corbeau seats, custom gauges, shifter and instruments, with an Alpine based entertainment system providing the tunes. Rolling stock consists of Wheel Vintiques billet wheels wearing BFGoodrich radials, and stopping power is by Stainless Steel Brakes Corp.

While we don’t normally build street rods, the ’41 Willys project was a chance to build something different. We like how it came out, and look forward to the next unusual project that comes our way.
